Dushanbe Restaurants

For a small city, Dushanbe actually has a lot to offer.

It has the usual shashlic joints, but also a great number of other cuisines!

Where to eat in Dushanbe: Traktir

Russian/Uzbekistan Cuisine

One of the best restaurants in Dushanbe, arguably. This is not a place to go to for local Dushanbe food. Here its 100% Ukrainian/ Russian.

The atmosphere is great when it’s busy, and the setting is brilliant.

This Dushanbe restaurant is located on a small covered side street with outside seating in the spring/ summer.

Once inside, the restaurant is positioned on the ground floor and basement floor crammed with memorabilia from the Soviet Union. Service can be slow - but order a pint of Russian Baltika and wait patiently for a superb Chicken Kiev with an apple strudel dessert.

The menu is varied with salads and fish options as well as other dishes.

When receiving the bill, it will be delivered in a wicker shoe service tax will be added.

English poor at this Dushanbe restaurant, but passable (at time of visits).

Where to eat in Dushanbe: Al Sham Restaurant

Lebanese/ Middle Eastern/ Mediterranean

A great spot in Dushanbe for vegetarians and carnivores alike, with hummus and salads as well as Middle Eastern meat dishes (perfect chicken Sharma).

The service is brilliant very attentive and caring.

This Dushanbe restaurant is located

on the same street as the National Museum of antiquities in a residential area set slightly back from the main street noticeable from its lighting. In spring/ summer time outside seating can be available.

More pricey than other Dushanbe restaurants but worth it, the bill will come with service.

Spoken English brilliant (at time of visits).

Where to eat in Dushanbe: Buhoro Restaurant

Tajikistan

A great evening option for food if you want a livelier affair.

The Tajik food here is delicious although the service is slow.

There are vegetarian options, although as local affair choices are limited.

The meat kebabs are great; fresh meat and very tasty.

If you want time to talk, pick one of the side rooms as in the evenings there is an interesting floor show which can be noisy. If you want to join in with the locals sporadically dancing, this is the best option.

The prices are mixed suitable for a variety of budgets, best visited as a group.
