A trip to the DPRK is the trip of a lifetime, if you need any help deciding which tour is best for you then please don't hesitate to get in touch. We are happy to answer all of your questions. If you are in Beijing then please book an appointment for a free DPRK tour consultation at our office.
Regardless of which tour you take, we give all tourists a pre-tour briefing to ensure you are fully prepared for - and will get the most out of - this unique trip. We therefore require all tourists to arrive in Beijing THE DAY BEFORE DEPARTURE to attend a 4PM briefing. Unless otherwise stated, there is no minimum/maximum capacity for our tours to run. If we get more than around 25 applications for one tour we will simply split this into 2 groups and run as 2 seperate tours. Provided you apply before the tour deadline you can guaranteed of getting on but early booking is always recommended anyway! A typical tour normally consists of 8 to 18 travelers.
*Effective from March 1st 2010 we will be adding a 50 Euro per person surcharge to any tour exiting the DPRK by train to Beijing. This is in response to the decision by the Chinese and DPRK railway authorities to increase the ticket prices by this amount without prior notice. Koryo Tours are unable to absorb this increase and regrettably have no option other than to add this surcharge to all of our tours which exit the DPRK by train. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this policy change.
* All tours are open to US citizens and we welcome all applications from Americans who wish to travel, however at present there is still a policy in DPRK restricting US nationals from leaving the country by train. We regret that we have to add a surcharge fee to leave the tour by plane at the end of the trip. For tours departing by Air Koryo flights (Tues, Thurs, Sat) we will add 50 Euros, for tours departing by Air China (Mon, Fri), we will add 120 Euro – departure by plane is also available for non-US tourists.
Please be aware that Air China tickets at peak times tend to sell out fast and they do not add extra flights, if you are intending to fly with this airline then please book the tour ideally a minimum of 4 weeks in advance. If, after that time, the prices of the tickets fluctuate we may have to pass on an additional surcharge and if tickets are unavailable a change in dates may be necessary
We do not yet know exactly what events will be taking place on April 15th, the 100th anniversary of the birth of DPRK President Kim Il Sung, nor do we know the level of access that tourists will be allowed to the events taking place at this time. We will of course post updates and send out newsletters as soon as we hear anything. Anyone signing up to tours at this time should be prepared not only for the journey of a lifetime but also for possible itinerary changes due to any circumstances outside of the control of Koryo Tours.
We can state with absolute certainty however that this is the largest holiday and most important day there has been in North Korea in many years. Big events will be taking place and Koryo Tours, as the most well established tour operator in the field and the only universally recognised DPRK travel specialists, are ideally placed to get you as much access as possible. You will not be disappointed!

All the Mass Games, holiday events, massive celebrations you can handle and much much more will be taking place on this occasion, and we’ll get you right into the thick of it. As if that wasn’t enough we’ll get out around the country to almost everywhere it is possible for a tourist to go; the DMZ separating North and South Korea, the massive underground

of Nampo and the 8km long West Sea Barrage, a cross country drive to
the eastern port of Wonsan, the stunning peaks of Mt. Kumgang (the diamond mountains known as the most beautiful scenery in Korea), the
rarely seen industrial city of Hamhung (opened to tourists by Koryo Tours after years of effort only in 2010) where we have the rare chance to see heavy industry at work as well as becoming some of less than 200 tourists who have ever been there, and the remote and unknown area of Pujon country, deep in the DPRK’s interior where Koryo Tours is the only company ever to take people.
We’ll see the deep countryside and remarkable surroundings visited by
only a handful of foreign eyes ever before – if you want a travel story to top anyone else’s then we strongly suggest you come along with us on
