Tour 1: The Essential City Tour

Description:

This tour takes in Beijing’s essential sights. If you only do one downtown tour, this should be it. From the majestic, must-see Forbidden City to a meal in one of Beijing’s best hidden Chinese restaurants and shopping on its hippest street.

Tour 2a: The Hardcore Great Wall Hike

Description:

This tour features a full-day hike on a rugged and utterly beautiful portion of the Great Wall.

Tour 2b: The Great Wall & 798 Art District Tour

Description:

This tour includes a thoroughly enjoyable, hour-and-a-half-long hike on a not-too-touristy part of the Great Wall, followed by lunch in the Beijing countryside and a tour of the fascinating 798 Art District. We’ve also tagged on an optional visit to our favourite ceramics boutique, Spin.

Tour 3: The Zen Day

Description:

This tour takes in some of Beijing’s most spiritual and relaxing sights – from the Temple of the Sun (where you’ll get a private Tai Chi lesson amongst the trees) to the incense-filled Lama Temple and the beautiful Summer Palace. Oh, and did we mention the foot massage at the end of the day?

Tour 4: The Weekend-only Tour

Description:

Some of Beijing’s best sights and most pleasurable pastimes only occur at weekends; namely the wonderful Panjiayuan bazaar and the activities that take place inside Jingshan Park just north of the Forbidden City. Weekends are also a good time for shopping, so this is your chance to browse and bargain in Beijing’s ‘fake’ markets with the help of a guide.

Tour 5: The Changing Faces of Beijing Architecture Tour

Description:

One of the most fascinating things about China’s capital is the incredible change that has taken place in a relatively short space of time. The city inhabited by the country’s emperors and the one that hosted the 2008 Olympics couldn’t be more different. This tour takes in Beijing’s most striking ancient and modern buildings, from the Temple of Heaven to the new Olympic Stadium.
