Itinerary - US Tour 9

Sat 9th Oct

AM: Bus from office to airport.

PM: Flight JS152 from Beijing to Pyongyang, 13:00 departure, arrive Pyongyang 16:25, meet your Korean guides who will accompany you during your stay. En route to the hotel stop off at the Arch of Triumph - similar to the French version (but bigger) - commemorates the liberation from Japanese rule, the Fountain Park a picturesque area in the centre of Pyongyang (an opportunity to mix with locals), and the Mansudae Grand Monument - statue of DPRK President Kim Il Sung. Check in hotel. MASS GAMESOVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Sun 10th Oct

AM: DPRK Holiday - Party Foundation Day: Kumsusan Memorial Palace - Mausoleum where President Kim Il Sung lies in state, Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery - bronze busts of the Koreans who died fighting the Japanese occupation

PM: Moranbong Park to mingle with the locals on their day off, Pyongyang Funfair, expected evening Mass Dance in Kim Il Sung Square
OVERNIGHT:Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Mon 11th Oct

AM: Korean Film Studio - where all the revolutionary and historical epics shown on DPRK TV and in cinemas are made, visit mock-up sets of various countries and periods, USS Pueblo - tour the American espionage ship captured in 1968, Mangyongdae Native House - birthplace of the DPRK founder Kim Il Sung, Pyongyang Metro - the deepest in the world, take a ride with the locals

PM: Drive to Kaesong (2.5 hrs) - a historical city near the DMZ which avoided being destroyed in the Korean War, visit the Koryo Museum - preserved Confucian museum in the old part of town

, check into the Folk Hotel where guests sleep on the floor in the traditional Korean style.
OVERNIGHT: Minsok Hotel, Kaesong

Tues 12th Oct

AM: Visit the Panmunjom/DMZ - boundary between North and South Korea, return to Pyongyang (2.5 hrs)

PM: Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum (Korean War Museum) - hear and see the DPRK version of the conflict, War Victory Monuments - sculptures of notable events from the war, Schoolchildren’s Palace tour and performance - centre of extra-curricular excellence with study rooms and a breath-taking children’s performance, stamp shop and book shop, Golden Lane Bowling Centre - where Pyongyangers go for their ten-pin fix, also has some early 90s arcade games
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

 

Weds 13th Oct

AM: Juche Tower - 150m stone tower with lookout platform at the top and great panoramic views of the city, Monument to Party Foundation - commemorates 50 years of Workers’ Party rule, flight JS156 from Pyongyang to Shenyang, 12:30 departure.

PM: Flight CZ6105 Shenyang-Beijing 15:30-17:05. End of tour.

TOUR COST: EUR 1590

VISA FEE: EUR 40 (to be paid at the pre-tour meeting)

PRE-TOUR MEETING: Friday 8th October, 4PM, at our office in Beijing

EXPECTED WEATHER: It will be hot and humid at this time with possible rain showers, around 20-25°C during the day. Raincoat/umbrella advised!

 

TOUR FEE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

1. return flight Beijing-Pyongyang (business class if available)
2. all meals on the tour
3. hotel accommodation
4. all entry fees
5. two guides and a driver per group
6. all transportation in DPRK
   
   

NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR FEE:

1. single room supplement of EUR 50 per night
2. spending money for drinks and souvenirs
3. DPRK visa fee EUR 40
4. tip for the guides (approx EUR 35-40 total)
5. entry tickets for Mass Games and special events if applicable – for example Revolutionary Opera if being staged, or a visit to the funfair
6. meals will have a complimentary beer but you will have to pay for extra drinks above those provided. If you are vegetarian or have special dietary requirements then please inform us beforehand
