AM: Kumsusan Memorial Palace (Mausoleum where President Kim Il Sung lies in state), Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery - bronze busts of the Koreans who died fighting the Japanese occupation, Fountain Park, Mansudae Grand Monument (Giant Statue of President Kim Il Sung), Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang’s largest square in the heart of the city
PM: Mt. Ryonggak (picnic lunch), Chonsam-ri Co-operative farm, Kangso Mineral Water Factory, drive to Hot Spa Guesthouse

AM: West Sea Barrage - 8km long long dam seperating the

Taedong river from the West Sea of Korea, Mt. Kuwol, Woljong Buddhist Temple, Sinchon Town, Atrocities Museum - museum detailing alleged massacre in this area during the Korean War,

AM: Mangyongdae Native House (birthplace of Kim Il Sung), Mansudae Art Studio - where posters, statues, and propaganda are produced, Pyongyang Metro (extended ride on the world’s deepest underground system), USS Pueblo - American spy ship captured in 1968
PM: Monument to Party Foundation - commemorates the 50 years

ofWorkers' Party rule, Juche Tower - panoramic views of Pyongyang

from 150m up, Drive to Mt. Myohyang via Ryongmun Caves - underground grottoes

Tues 11th Sept

AM: International Friendship Exhibition - a series of enormous

subterranean exhibition rooms housing gifts given to the DPRK's

leaders by foreign political figures, notable figures, politicians and

organizations, Pohyon Buddhist Temple - Historical holy temple

that originates from 1042, Manpok Valley hike (1.5 hrs)
PM: Return to Pyongyang, Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum(Korean War Museum) - hear and see the DPRK version of the conflict, Schoolchildren’s Palace Performance

Wed 12th Sept

AM: Drive to Kaesong (2.5 hours) - a historical city near the

DMZ which avoided being destroyed in the Korean War, Panmunjom/DMZ - the demarcation line between North and South Korea, local park & pavilion, Sonjok Bridge
PM: Concrete Wall - observation post deep in the DMZ where you

can view South Korean positions and see the anti-tank barrier which

stretches across the peninsular, Tomb of King Kongmin - beautifu

l twin-domed tomb of the 31st King of the Koryo Dynasty and his Mongolian wife, Kaesong Koryo Museum - relics of the ancient city, Return to Pyongyang

Thurs 13th Sept

AM: Morning of relaxing at the hotel; sleep in, play golf, use the pool, sauna, etc – you’ll have earned a rest by now, and you’ll need it for the week ahead!
PM: Boat trip from central Pyongyang to Mangyongdae area, Mangyongdae Funfair (rides include double-loop rollercoaster), Sports shooting range, Koryo Traditional Medicine Clinic - get treatment if you need it!, Pyongyang Diplomatic club for evening entertainment and dinner
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Fri 14th Sept

AM: Charter flight to Mt. Paekdu (1 hour), Drive to the mountain and ascend to the highest peak in Korea, panoramic views and a picnic at the crater lake
PM: Paekdusan secret camp (official birthplace of Kim Jong Il), Rimjongsu Waterfall, Samji town and regional museum
OVERNIGHT: Pegaebang Hotel, Mt. Paekdu

 

 

Sat 15th Sept

AM: Samjiyon Grand Monument (giant array of statues telling the story of the guerilla army in the mountains), to airport, flight to

Orang airport, drive to Mt. Chilbo area
PM: Tour of the mountain range, multiple peaks and rock

formations, stunning views and scenery, local beach and homestay

village (the only place it is possible to stay with locals in

the whole country)

Sun 16th Sept

AM: Drive to Chongjin, DPRK’s 3rd largest city and a major industrial centre on the North East Coast
PM: Chongjin Revolutionary Museum, Central Square and Kim Il Sung Statue, Steelworks Kindergarten, Fisherman’s Club for nightlife
OVERNIGHT: Tourist Hotel, Chongjin

 

 

Mon 17th Sept

AM: Drive back to Orang airport, stopping at local revolutionary sites and scenic spots, picnic at a beach
PM: Flight to Pyongyang, Museum of Metro Construction - enormous

museum showing the efforts to build the underground, contains

amazing panoramas and much more, Pyongyang Pizza restaurant, Paradise micro-brewery - try the local brew
OVERNIGHT: Koryo Hotel, Pyongyang

 

 

Tues 18th Sept

AM: Drive to Wonsan (4 hours) - major city on the East Coast of Korea
PM: Wonsan city docks, - the moored Manyongbon-92 passanger ship to Japan is based here and statue of the President overlooking the harbour shows the importance of this port to the DPRK, Central Square - walking tour of this popular area, hill overlooking the city, Songdowon Schoolchildren’s Camp - leisure facility for local and international children
OVERNIGHT: Dongmyong Hotel, Wonsan

 

 

Wed 19th Sept

AM: Drive to Hamhung (2,5hours) - A major industrial city on DPRK's East Coast which was closed to tourists from 1945 until 2010 when Koryo Tours became the first company to take people there, stopping at truckstop along the way
PM: Kim Il Sung statue and central park - great views of this unique city, ancient hilltop fort, Hungnam Fertiliser Factory -a rare chance to see a bit of heavy industry, Hamhung Grand Theatre - The iconic building of the city, dominating the central area and bordered by a pleasant lank and park
OVERNIGHT: Majon Guesthouse, Hamhung

 

 

Thurs 20th Sept

AM: Relaxing time at Majon beach, Feb 18th Vinalon Complex where the North Korean ‘miracle fabric’ is produced
PM: Drive south down the coast back to Wonsan via

Tongbong co-operative farm - for an explanation of the DPRK

farming system and a tour of the farm, stopping at scenic spots,

etc. On to Lake Sijung
OVERNIGHT: Sijung Motel, Lake Sijung

 

 

Fri 21st Sept

AM: To Outer Kumgang, former Hyundai resort for South Korean tourists, Guided hike into the Kumgang mountains for amazing views and scenery
PM: brief trek around Samil Lagoon, pavilions and islands (it’s possible to swim here too!), Long drive to Pyongyang, Koryo Hotel revolving restaurant for panoramic view of the city, farewell dinner and party!

Sat 22nd Sept

AM: 10:10 Train departs from Pyongyang for China
PM: Cross border at Sinuiju/Dandong, those visiting Dandong alight here, train continues to Beijing

TOUR FEE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

1. Flight Beijing-Pyongyang, train Pyongyang-Beijing
2. All meals on the tour except on the train out of DPRK – see below
3. Hotel accommodation
4. All entry fees
5. Two guides and a driver per group
6. All transportation in DPRK
   
   

NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR FEE:

1. Optional single room supplement of EUR 40 per night
2. Spending money for drinks and souvenirs
3. DPRK visa fee EUR 50
4. EUR 50 surcharge for the train to Beijing or EUR 50 surcharge for the plane to Beijing (or Air China surcharge EUR 120)
5. Tip for the guides (approx EUR 20-25 total)
6. Meals on the train out of DPRK - (bring your own food or eat dinner and lunch in the buffet car approximately EUR 5 per person)
7. Entry tickets for Mass Games and special events if applicable – for example Revolutionary Opera if being staged, or a visit to the funfair
8. The lift up the Juche Tower EUR 5
9. Meals will have a complimentary beer but you will have to pay for extra drinks above those provided. If you are vegetarian or have special dietary requirements then please inform us beforehand
