PM: Pyongyang Film Studios, Drive to Mt. Myohyang via

Ryongmun caves

AM: International Friendship Exhibition - A series of enormous subterranean exhibition rooms housing gifts given to the DPRK’s leaders by foreign political figures, notable figures, politicians and organisations, Pyohon Buddhist Temple Historical holy temple that originates from 1042
PM: Return to Pyongyang (2 hours), 3 Revolutions Exhibition, Schoolchildren’s Palace tour and performance

AM: Kumsusan Memorial Palace - Mausoleum where President

Kim Il Sung lies in state, Revolutionary Martyrs’ Cemetery -

bronze busts of the Koreans who died fighting the Japanese occupation, Foreign Language Bookshop, Read up on what you are seeing here and buy your gifts and night time reading

PM: Mangyongdae Native House - birthplace of the DPRK founder

Kim Il Sung, Mansudae Art Studio - Pyongyang’s centre of artistic excellence, Pyongyang Metro (extended ride) - the deepest in the world, take a ride with the locals. Drive to Kaesong (2,5 hours) - A historical city near the DMZ which avoided being destroyed in the Korean War

OVERNIGHT: Minsok Folk Hotel, Kaesong (sleep on floor in

traditional Korean style)

 

Mon 13th Aug

 

AM: Panmunjom/DMZ boundary between North and South Korea, Concrete Wall, local park and pavilion
PM: Tomb of King Kongmin - Beautiful twin-domed tomb of the

31st King of the Koryo Dynasty and his Mongolian wife,

Koryo Museum - preserved Confucian museum in the old part of

town. Return to Pyongyang, Museum of Metro Construction

(shows the efforts of the builders of the Pyongyang Metro

under the guidance of President Kim Il Sung)

Tue 14th Aug

 

AM: Chollima Steel Works - New for 2012! Tae'an Heavy Machine

Tool Complex, Tae'an Glass Factory, to Mt. Ryonggak for brief hike

for panoramic view of Pyongyang, picnic lunch at the mountain

PM: Drive to Nampo, Local Orphanage, West Sea Barrage - 8km

long long dam seperating the Taedong river from the West Sea

of Korea, City Centre, visit this West Coast port city, drive to

Hot Springs Guesthouse

Wed 15th Aug

 

AM:DPRK HOLIDAY: Liberation Day – Return to Pyongyang,

Fountain Park, Mansudae Grand Monument statue of DPRK

President Kim Il Sung, Juche Tower - 150m stone tower with

lookout platform at the top and great panoramic views of the

city, Kim Il Sung Square - Pyongyang's largest square in the

heart of the city.
PM: Moranbong Park - where the people of Pyongyang go to enjoy their holiday, local funfair, fountain park, Golden Lane Bowling

Centre  - where Pyongyangers go for their ten-pin fix, also has

some early 90s arcade games, expected Mass Dance on

Kim Il Sung Square

OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

Thurs 16th Aug

 

 

AM: Charter Flight to Mt. Paekdu (1 hr), Drive to Mountain and

ascend to the top by funicular railway (highest peak in Korea),

picnic lunch at crater lake (highest in the world)
PM:  Paekdusan Secret Camp (official birthplace of Kim Jong Il), Rimyongsu waterfalls, Samjiyon Town
OVERNIGHT: Pegaebong Hotel, Samjiyon

 

 

Fri 17th Aug

 

AM: Samji School, Samjiyon Grand Monument, drive to Pochonbo (site of significant battle between Korean guerilla army and Japanese forces), picnic lunch at the battle monument
PM: Return to Samjiyon for flight to Pyongyang, return to

Pyongyang, Paradise micro-brewery & bar
OVERNIGHT: Yanggakdo Hotel, Pyongyang

 

 

Sat 18th Aug

 

AM: 10:10 Train departs from Pyongyang for China
PM: Cross border at Sinuiju/Dandong, those visiting Dandong alight here, train continues to Beijing
OVERNIGHT: On Train

 

 

Sun 19th Aug

 

AM: 08:34 Arrival at Beijing Central Railway Station. End of Tour

TOUR COST: EUR 2090

VISA FEE: EUR 50

PRE-TOUR MEETING: August 8th (Wednesday), 4PM, at our office in Beijing

Room upgrades available – please ask for more information.

 

TOUR FEE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

1. Flight Beijing-Pyongyang, train Pyongyang-Beijing
2. All meals on the tour except on the train out of DPRK – see below
3. Hotel accommodation
4. All entry fees
5. Two guides and a driver per group
6. All transportation in DPRK
   
   

NOT INCLUDED IN THE TOUR FEE:

1. Optional single room supplement of EUR 40 per night
2. Spending money for drinks and souvenirs
3. DPRK visa fee EUR 50
4. EUR 50 surcharge for the train to Beijing or EUR 50 surcharge for the plane to Beijing (or Air China surcharge EUR 120)
5. Tip for the guides (approx EUR 20-25 total)
6. Meals on the train out of DPRK - (bring your own food or eat dinner and lunch in the buffet car approximately EUR 5 per person)
7. Entry tickets for Mass Games and special events if applicable – for example Revolutionary Opera if being staged, or a visit to the funfair
8. The lift up the Juche Tower EUR 5
9. Meals will have a complimentary beer but you will have to pay for extra drinks above those provided. If you are vegetarian or have special dietary requirements then please inform us beforehand
